10.10.10 was a beautiful day for me…I got to spend it among great works of arts created in the late 18, 19 and 20th century.

the ceiling of great hall was designed by Australian artist Leonard French

I wanted to share something really inspiring as my first post for this blog. What could be better than viewing the great artworks  of European master painters like Edgar Degas, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Max Ernst, Picasso, Paul Klee, Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Paul Ce’zanne and many more. This was the very first time I saw all these paintings in real rather than in the pages of art books or online.

This play area is inspired by the paintings of German painter Max Leibermann

It was an overwhelming experience, I spent nearly three hours in the magnificent National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), roaming from one room to another..from great master pieces of romanticism to exciting and vibrant paintings of Expressionism and Impressionism. The paintings I like most were by my personal favourites Degas and Renoir. Both artists were considered the most important painters of the Impressionist movement. Another striking painting was by Wilhelm Altheim, titled “model study of a sleeping girl”. It is a study of a model who apparently has fallen asleep, it is so far away from the drama, mythological symbols usually surrounding nude figures in paintings of those times..it is natural and real. I love it.

I have taken some pictures of the gallery, obviously could not photographed the artwork, but will find some images online to share here with you all. Eversince I came back from the exhibition I have been painting in my head..singing and smiling, beautiful art does that you 🙂

If you have been to the show, please share your experience with me.
